(Editor’s note: Grandma/Momma/Bee didn’t write down exactly how she cooked steak. All hands on deck here — what do you all remember? The recipes here are from her most well-worn cookbook.)

  1. What I remember most were T-bones. Momma would salt and place them on the oven’s “broiling sheet”, which was a flat pan with a fitted slotted “cover” (juices would drain though the cover into the pan”. She’d put the steaks on the cover and broil them in the oven.

  2. Yes, steaks grilled under the broiler were a great Sunday treat. Usually she grilled a large steak and cut pieces to serve us- not individual steaks like you normally see today. I remember large sirloin steaks, broiled and served with Worcestershire sauce.
