(Editor’s note: Before Twin Rivers Mall, where did New Bern’s children go to see Santa?)

  1. We don’t look too happy seeing Santa. The faces almost remind me of the faces of the grands watching the pig on the roaster at the beach!
    I think there might have been a Santa at the Belk’s downtown next to First Baptist before the mall. I remember when they put in the escalator and everyone went downtown just to ride it! ­čÖé

  2. I don’t really remember anything specific about that photo, except that I’ve seen it before. It looks like Billy Benners took it, but I don’t know if that means he ran the photography concession wherever Santa was, or if we did it in his studio. Santa may have been set up in either Belk’s or JC Penney’s downtown before he moved to the trailer on Middle Street.
