(Editor’s note: Christmas 1982 … My Mama/Aunt Penny is going to have to tell you the story about where these outfits came from.)

  1. Wonderful finds! That santa sure does have bowed legs! I still remember that day. Oh happy day.

  2. That Santa suit was the real deal! Cherryhill photos was looking for someone to run their Christmas holiday photo business at our mall. Since it was part-time, would work with Daddy’s schedule, and training involved a nice trip to Atlanta, I decided to give it a shot. What fun! I got to select and hire convincing Santas, learn how to do their make-up, care for the wigs and suits properly($400.00 each-real white fur!), and get in a bit of photography as well.
I brought one of the suits home for Granddaddy to play Santa. He enjoyed it more than the grandchildren. But, ofcourse, detective Carey caught on immediately and wondered what her Granddaddy was doing in Santa’s clothes!
The costume I’m in was one I made for the stint…I wasn’t about to wear the cute elf costume. Being a Mrs. Santa was more my role.

  3. Granddaddy memorized “T’was the Night Before Christmas” for these occasions. He did a really good job. I can still remember the mesmorized look on kids faces when he would recite it.
