Cherry Tart

In First Baptist & Around New Bern on February 15, 2010 at 8:12 am

2 cups Graham Cracker Crumbs
1 stick margarine (Room Temp.)
11 oz. cream cheese (Room Temp.)
1 cup confectionary sugar
2 Tbsp. milk
1 cup chopped pecans
1 tsp. Vanilla Flavoring
2 Tbsp. sugar – 1 cup cold milk
2 pkg. Dream Whip
1 can Cherry Pie Filling

Combine crumbs and margarine — press in bottom of 9″ x 13″ pan. Then put in freezer while creaming cheese, sugar & milk until smooth. Spoon cheese mixture over crumbs. Top with nuts. Follow directions on Dream Whip Box adding the 2 Tbsp. sugar. Spread over nuts. Cover and put in refrigerator for 10 mins. Spoon cheesy pie filling over Dream Whip.

(Make ahead and put in freezer.)

I put in freezer between each step.

(Editor’s note: The top of this recipe card says “from the kitchen of: C. Woodward” … who is she? Looks like Grandma/Momma/Bee might have gotten this recipe in the same recipe swap that netted her Virginia Warren’s Chocolate Cake, i.e. “Chocolate Cake (Better than Sex).”)

  1. I don’t remember a C. Woodward, but GM was involved with people from all over New Bern – church, school system, Religious Community Services, etc. – who we didn’t know. There is a Carl Woodward (probably not) and a Cory Woodward (possible) in the phone book, but no assurance that this person is still on this side of the pale.
For some reason I don’t remember GM ever making these cherry tarts for us, although from the ingredients, it would have had to have been really tasty.
