PEACH ICE CREAM

In 3-Evelyn Floy Garris 1910-1997, FAMILY: BROTHER & SISTERS (BEE) on April 7, 2010 at 5:46 am

2 C WATER
3/4 C POWDER MILK
2 1/2 T FLOUR MIXED IN 1/2 C WATER
3 EGGS BEATEN
1 C SUGAR
WATER

SCALD MIILK AND ADD WATER AND FLOUR. THEN EGG AND SUGAR MIXTURE. CHILL AND ADD 1 CAN (TALL) CARNATION MILK AND 3 C PEACHES. FREEZE.

(Editor’s note: Grandma/Momma/Bee only had one recipe for ice cream among the recipes she clipped and wrote down — and that one was for artificially-sweetened peach ice cream — so his one comes to us from her sister, Floy.

Do you think the instructions intend for us to whip the Carnation milk? Or whip the entire batch after it’s frozen?)

  1. I’m thinking since she noted “whipped” right under the Carnation Milk words, that she was reminding herself to whip the milk. Then freeze the ice cream.
BUT, I am not familar with this recipe, so I’m guessing.

  2. I would agree with Penny’s answer… I do not think that Grandma ever made any ice cream with powdered milk. I am thinking that there was a recipe that included Eagle Brand milk. šŸ™‚

  3. Aunt Boyd, do you reckon it’s in those recipe cards you mentioned Grandma gave you?
