In Uncategorized on April 12, 2010 at 8:30 am

2 C Brown sugar
1 T Crisco
1 T Corn syrup
1/2 C milk
1/3 C Crisco
2 1/2 C Confectioners sugar
4 T hot milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Boil first 4 ingredients to 235 degrees f (or when soft ball forms in cold water)

Combine Crisco, confectioners sugar vanilla & milk; beat until smooth

Pour hot syrup over Crisco mixture. Beat until thick and creamy.

(Editor’s note: This recipe is not the same as the one that Aunt Julia/Great Aunt Julia used to fill her Caramel Cake, but it was in Grandma/Momma/Bee’s recipe clippings.

Note the back of the recipe for some family wedding dates, and also for what looks to be a few shopping lists. Do you think these numbers are prices? If so, what year do you think this would have been? I bet Aunt Julia remembers prices like these!)

  1. Well, I am pretty sure that the Ruby we met in RoundO at Charles and Emily’s dinner is the Ruby in the list – married to Joe Dodd.
